Anita began ballet at the age of 3 at the Ruth Adams School of Dance. She completed all of the RAD grades there. She then began training in the vocational syllabi at the Laura Walker Ballet School, taking exams up to Advanced 2 level. Anita also trained with distinguished teachers such as Liane McRae and Rachael Hunt during summer schools at RAD Headquarters in London. During this time she successfully completed the RAD Certificate in Ballet Teaching Studies. Her written work for the course has since been used as an exemplar for future students.
Anita also holds a BA Hons Joint Degree in History and History of Art from Queen’s University, Belfast.
After qualifying as an RAD Registered Teacher Anita worked for various ballet schools in the province, including the Laura Walker Ballet School and Clare Novaes Ballet School. She was appointed as a part time lecturer in Classical Ballet at Belfast Metropolitan College for 4 years. She is also a founding partner of Carryduff School of Dance.
Anita lived in Toronto, Canada, and taught RAD ballet there for 2 years. She also choreographed for dance recitals and competitions. While in Canada she added another string to her bow by completing the Stott Pilates intensive teacher training course at their Corporate Training Centre.
On returning to Northern Ireland, Anita established Poise – Ballet and Pilates, teaching RAD ballet and Pilates. She is very happy to be part of the Whitehouse Ballet School team!
