Kathryn Annett trained at the Rowan Academy of Dance Banbridge, from the age of six where she excelled in ballet, lyrical and jazz examinations. During this time, she danced in festivals held annually and had the opportunity to perform in London for competitions. At the age of eighteen, she decided to continue her love of dance by successfully auditioning for Ballet West, a prestigious ballet school in Scotland. Kathryn gained RAD examinations and took classes in Contemporary, Jazz, Singing and Drama. In addition, she had the opportunity to dance at the Royal Albert Hall, London and tour around Scotland performing in Swan Lake with the Ballet West Company.
Kathryn continued her studies at the Royal Academy of Dance in London where she obtained a BA Hons degree in Ballet Education. She is trained in teaching ballet and other dance styles and has had the opportunity as part of her course to teach in many successful ballet schools in London. She has choreographed dance pieces that have been performed on The Royal Academy of Dance stage and assisted in the production of Dance Proms which takes place at the Royal Albert Hall, London.
For the past year Kathryn has worked for the English National Ballet Junior School as an assistant/teacher and has experience of teaching adults and older learners through the RAD ‘Dance for Lifelong Wellbeing Project’. Kathryn has also gained qualifications in Darcey Bussell’s new fitness programme, Diverse Dance Mix (DDMIX) and had used this skill to encourage dance fitness in her local area. More recently, she has gained her certificate in the DDMIX Schools programme.
